Animal Spotlight at the Aquarium & Coast: Adult

Spend time with your little one and learn about aquatic creatures in our specially designed early childhood classroom. This program combines stories, projects and live animals, and is designed to keep your child engaged and learning. We spend our last class on an adventure at Bluff Point State Park in Groton, Conn., exploring and looking for sea creatures in their natural habitat.

This underwater overnight adventure is designed for boys ages 6-13. Participants will enjoy a main floor scavenger hunt, touching live invertebrates, dissecting a squid, seeing our outdoor exhibits at night and learning how to help a stranded seal! After the evening activities are complete, everyone will fall asleep next to a cool tank of fish.

Every scout must be registered with a paid chaperone according to the scout chaperone guidelines.

Payment in full is required at the time of registration for all attendees.
Fee is $60 per person.
Advance registration is required.
Boy Scouts/Cub Scouts may only register on dates designated for boys.
A roster with complete names for all those attending , an indication of adult or child and the youth age range is due 30 days prior to the event. Please email it to bhirsh@searesearch.org

*HOMESCHOOL CLASSES

Mystic Aquarium is now offering classes for homeschoolers!

Classes meet once a month over the course of 4 months. Children will have the opportunity to visit behind the scenes areas and participate in hands-on activities to reinforce a variety of topics.

Each class is 45 minutes.

Please note: Programs fee does not include admission for families. Non-members will be required to pay regular admission rates in order to enter the aquarium. Special arrangements can be made for child drop-off and pick-up outside the aquarium for non-members participating in program.

Classes sold as a 4 part series for $32.00. Classes cannot be sold separately. Classes have a 25 child maximum and 6 child minimum.

*SUMMER CAMPS: AGES 3-5

Sea Stars, our early childhood summer camp program for preschoolers is back once again this year. This half-day, week-long themed summer camp experience is packed with fun for children ages 3-5. Whether you sign your child up for one week or the entire summer, Sea Stars is the perfect program for your little sponge. Sea Stars programs take place in a bright, stimulating classroom designed for preschool-aged children. Parents enjoy peace of mind knowing our experienced staff creates a safe, memorable experience for each and every child. This unique program allows children to learn through hands-on experiences and animal encounters while interacting with peers and participating in fun projects. Children also experience the great outdoors at the Sea School Green, an outdoor learning space specially designed for our campers. Sea Stars campers do not leave aquarium grounds. Have your little one join us as we travel around the world learning about different countries and the animals which call it home. Teachers will provide a daily snack and beverage for the campers.

The Sea Star Camp runs from 8:30am-11:30am Pick up and drop off take place outside near the aquariums front gates.

Mystic River Adventure

JJoin us for this very popular joint Mystic Aquarium/Mystic Seaport summer program. While at the aquarium, campers learn about the fascinating animals and habitats of the Mystic River and Long Island Sound. Campers then travel to the Seaport for a daily sailing adventure. All told, campers find sailing at Mystic Seaport and investigating animals at Mystic Aquarium an incredible, memorable experience! Campers must be able to swim. Please enroll for this adventure through the aquarium. There is no aftercare available for this program. Camper drop off is at the aquarium and pick up is at the seaport.
 
 
Aquarium Experience

Have you ever wondered how many animals are at the aquarium? Campers will dive into this week-long adventure where they learn about this fabulous aquarium, the animals who call it home and the staff who work here every day. Your camper will meet animal care trainers and scientists, take special behind-the-scenes tours, learn about the excitement of working at the aquarium and participate in hands-on activities. Field trips to local sites, including one to a local habitat, and unique projects enhance this super fun aquarium exploration experience.
 
 
Aquarium Mysteries

What happens to a ship when it sinks? What might a mermaid really be? Did pirates ever sail the waters around here? Come join us for an ocean adventure as we look at some of the mysteries of the deep! Campers will investigate some ocean mysteries to determine if they are fact or fiction. Campers will enjoy hands-on activities, meet terrific aquarium staff, interact with animals, take a look behind the scenes, complete a cool project and take field trips to local sites during this week -long camp.

Do you love marine biology? Get the fun, hands-on experience you crave by doing activities marine biologists conduct every day. Participants tour behind the scenes, interact with aquarium staff and, weather permitting, enjoy some time on the water. As an added bonus, campers spend the night at the aquarium sleeping among the exhibits.

AGES 13-16: Week in the Life of a Marine Biologist

Teens love marine biology and yearn to know what itís like to be a scientist. Join the Mystic Aquarium and New England Science & Sailing (NESS) for this exciting program that allows for a unique experience in the best aspects of a career in marine biology. Participants will start their day at NESS exploring Little Narragansett Bay by kayak, snorkel, foot and boat where they will perform field research before heading over to the Mystic Aquarium for engaging hands-on programming. This program is designed to give you a real taste of what itís like to be a marine biologist.

Morning drop-off is at NESS in Stonington. All students take the SEAT bus with an instructor to Mystic Aquarium. Afternoon pick-up is at Mystic Aquarium. All registration will be through Mystic Aquarium.
