Nature Play Aquarium Camp Out

Grab your tents and prepare to explore the aquarium under the stars! Sleeping in the Aquarium Green, this special event will have participants camping outside surrounded by penguins, seals and sea lions, making s'mores, and participating in a night hike of a local land trust preserve.

Horseshoe Crab Watch

Head to the beach and witness these "living fossils" gather during our nighttime Family Horseshoe Crab Walk. Be prepared to get your feet wet and hike a distance as you help Aquarium and Charles River Laboratory staff count the animals and learn about the role they play in our local ecosystem.

GIRL SCOUT Overnights

This underwater overnight adventure is designed for girls ages 6-13. Participants will enjoy a main floor scavenger hunt, touching live invertebrates, dissecting a squid, seeing our outdoor exhibits at night and learning how to help a stranded seal! After the evening activities are complete, everyone will fall asleep next to a cool tank of fish.

Every scout must be registered with a paid chaperone according to the scout chaperone guidelines.

Payment in full is required at the time of registration for all attendees.
Fee is $65 per person.
Advance registration is required.
Girl Scouts may only register on dates designated for girls.
• Fathers attending on a Girl Scout night will spend the night separately from the scouts.
A roster with complete names for all those attending , an indication of adult or child and the youth age range is due 30 days prior to the event. Please email it to bhirsh@searesearch.org.

*SUMMER CAMPS: AGES 3-5

Sea Stars, our early childhood summer camp program for preschoolers, is back for another exciting summer of fun. This half-day, week-long themed summer camp experience is packed with fun for children ages 3-5. Whether you sign your child up for one week or the entire summer, Sea Stars is the perfect program for your little sponge. Sea Stars programs take place in a bright, stimulating classroom designed for preschool-aged children. Parents enjoy peace of mind knowing our experienced staff creates a safe, memorable experience for each and every child. This unique program allows children to learn through hands-on experiences and animal encounters while interacting with peers and participating in fun projects. Children also experience the great outdoors at the Sea School Green, an outdoor learning space specially designed for our campers. Sea Stars campers do not leave aquarium grounds. This summer, Sea Stars themes will focus on the various animals that we have exhibited at the aquarium.
Teachers will provide a daily snack and beverage for the campers.

The Sea Star Camp runs from 8:30am-11:30am Pick up and drop off take place outside near the aquariums front gates.

Oh Boy! Summer Fun! What a great way to celebrate summer. Campers will learn about pond life as they investigate what lives there such as freshwater fish, turtles and frogs! These campers will get plenty of outdoor time as they set up a tent, plant flowers, and tend the garden. To add to the adventure, campers will cap off this adventure with Mud Day and a day of water play.

Mystic River Adventure

Join us once again for this very popular joint Mystic Aquarium/Mystic Seaport summer program. While at the aquarium, campers learn about the fascinating animals and habitats of the Mystic River and Long Island Sound. Campers then travel to the Seaport for a daily lesson on how to sail their own boat. All told, campers find sailing at Mystic Seaport and investigating animals at Mystic Aquarium an incredible, memorable experience! Campers must be able to swim as they will be sailing small boats. Please enroll for this adventure through the aquarium.

There is no aftercare available for this program. Camper drop off is at the aquarium and pick up is at the seaport.
 
 
Aquarium Experience

Seals, crabs and whales, OH MY! Campers will dive into this week-long adventure where they learn about this fabulous aquarium, the animals who call it home and the staff who work here every day. Campers will meet animal care trainers and scientists, take special behind-the-scenes tours, learn about the excitement of working at the aquarium and participate in hands-on activities. Two field trips to local sites, including one to a local habitat, and unique projects enhance this super fun aquarium exploration experience.
 
 
Girls in Science

Women hold many awesome positions in our aquarium, veterinarians, researchers trainers, animal care staff and marine educators to name a few. This full-day, week long camp will connect young girls with women who work in this awesome setting. Campers will work on a week-long project while they meet and learn about the experiences of these women. Campers will enjoy hands-on activities, meet terrific women in science, interact with animals, take a look behind the scenes, complete a cool project and take two field trips to local sites during this week -long camp where we hope to inspire more young ladies to engage in science.
 
 
MARINE ANIMALS AND THEIR ENVIRONMENT

New to Mystic Aquarium, a week long joint camp with Project Oceanology! Animals and plants have specific adaptations to live in a particular habitat. But what happens to them when the environment changes, either slowly or suddenly? Learn about the health of animals and environments both in the Aquarium and in our local waters. This camp is perfect for a budding scientist who is looking to get their feet wet! This fun filled, hands-on camp will be held for 2 days at Project Oceanology in Groton, CT followed by 3 days at Mystic Aquarium.

Do you wonder what it would be like to work in an aquarium or in the field of marine biology? Get the fun, hands-on experience you crave by doing activities marine biologists conduct every day. Participants tour behind the scenes, interact with aquarium staff and, weather permitting, enjoy some time on the water. As an added bonus, campers spend the night at the aquarium sleeping among the exhibits.

AGES 13-16: Week in the Life of a Marine Biologist

Teens love marine biology and yearn to know what it's like to be a scientist. Join the Mystic Aquarium and New England Science & Sailing (NESS) for this exciting program that allows for a unique experience in the best aspects of a career in marine biology. Participants will start their day at NESS exploring Little Narragansett Bay by kayak, snorkel, foot and boat where they will perform field research before heading over to the Mystic Aquarium for engaging hands-on programming. This program is designed to give teens a real taste of what it's like to be a marine biologist.
Morning drop-off is at NESS in Stonington. All students take the SEAT bus with an instructor to Mystic Aquarium. Afternoon pick-up is at Mystic Aquarium. All registration will be through Mystic Aquarium.

Campers will learn about the conservation of marine animals as well as participate in research cruises and studies in Long Island Sound.
